Professionally tanned porcupine hide laced on a wooden hoop. Hoop is made of redosier dogwood (Cornaceae Cornus sericea spp. occidentalis) and is peeled of bark and dried to fit this specific hide. Hide has a complete head, feet, and claws. All quills and guard hairs are intact. This is the hide of a subadult porcupine, so it has baby soft fur. The hide is blocked to reduce wrinkles. A red fabric backing is fitted to the leather side of the hide and is bordered with tanned, golden color buckskin. The buckskin border adds to the visual appearance of the piece as well as ensures the lacing does not tear the edge of the hide. Lacing is natural fibered jute twine. A small loop near the head of the animal is added so hoop can be easily hung by a hook or nail. Great for use as a wallhanger or decorative piece in any house, cabin, or man cave.
Hide dimensions: Tip of nose to tip of tail: 26", Width(across abdomen): 13.5". Total hoop dimensions (L x W): 32" x 23".
